BUTTERFLY RUN 5K

The Butterfly Run, hosted by Guardian Angel Hospice Foundation, was established to raise awareness about grief and loss while providing a compassionate space for the community to honor and remember those who have touched our hearts. What began as a butterfly dream twelve years ago has blossomed into a cherished tradition.

Set against the natural beauty of Prophetstown State Park, the Butterfly Run offers a welcoming space where compassion and intention meet community. It is a place where stories can be shared, memories are held with care, and no one walks alone.

This family friendly event has something for everyone!

•  Registration begins at 9:00 AM
•  9:45 AM — The Flutter Run: A fun filled 50-yard dash FREE for children 10 and under to kick off the morning.
•  10:15 AM — Butterfly Reflection & Release We will gather to remember the special people who shaped our lives, whisper a message to a butterfly, and release it in their honor — a moment of love, remembrance, and gratitude for what was.
•  10:30 AM — 5K Memorial Walk & Fun Run Timed runners will lead the way, followed by family and friends who choose to walk at a leisurely pace.

Throughout the morning, you are invited to share stories, reflect on special memories, and connect with others who share the power of remembrance. This is a safe, supportive space where compassion leads the way and every step honors someone special.

ENTRY FEES / DEADLINES

Ages 10 and under participate for FREE!

Butterfly Release with Walk/Run (Includes event t-shirt): $35

Butterfly Release (Includes event shirt. 5K walk/run not included.): $25

Kaleidoscope Package (Family package including butterfly release, walk/run, and event t-shirts for group of four. A registration form must be complete for each person.): $100

Event T-Shirt Only:  $15

Flutter Fun Run (100-yard dash, ages 10 and under): FREE

Memorial Marker (Honor your loved one by purchasing a memorial marker, with or without a photo, to be displayed at the event.): $25




PLEASE REGISTER BY FRIDAY, AUGUST 1ST, TO GUARANTEE AN EVENT T-SHIRT AND BUTTERFLY.

The park gate fee is included for all participants pre-registered by Friday, August 1st. For late and day-of registration, pay $8 at the park gate. T-shirts and butterflies may not be included with late and same-day registration. 

Online registration is available until Thursday, August 20th at 11:00 pm.

NOTES

Refunds will not be issued for any reason. Please be responsible when using bikes, strollers, roller skates/blades, skateboards, or anything that would enhance performance or pose a risk to you or other participants.
